KVFV JACKSON PROJECT COMMITTEE NEWSLETTER
MAY 14, 2005

ASSOCIATION MEETING
The meeting on May 7th was one of the largest in the history of the association! There were about 100 very concerned people attending. We look forward to having the same turnout in the many meetings we will hold this year.

Craig Enyart opened the meeting with an outline of the purpose of the Association in these new issues we face. Gloria Ball gave a presentation of the documents that have been filed with the planning department including applications, history, floor plans and plot maps. She highlighted some of the concerns most of us have in becoming familiar with the Jackson Winery Project. A few of the major points were:

1. The lot line adjustment required to facilitate this project. Joining 85 acres to the 15 acre parcel to make a 100 acre parcel enclosing the adobe and the historic stone winery on a saleable parcel.

2. The dismantling of the stone winery, replacing it on the same footprint with a copper roofed structure with an event center, parking and tasting room open to the public.

3. Major concerns also covered noise, lights, traffic and water.

Gloria stated that we need to have an Association with strong, loyal support to meet the challenges that will surely continue in the future. Newly tightened codes for wineries in Napa County will push that demand into our valley making this a tourist route through to the two casinos and many wineries in Alexander Valley.

There was a lively discussion period and at one point the general counsel for Jackson Enterprises answered a few questions. He indicated events might have as many as 200 attendees.

There was a resolution put to a vote to establish a committee to research and inform the membership of other issues and resolutions. It passed unanimously. The first meeting was May 12th. We are moving quickly.

An opinion survey was circulated and among the eight questions the major consensus was 98% stating no commercial development, no tasting rooms open to the public, no event centers. Approximately 94% would limit a winery to estate contained such as the Peter Michael Winery.

The meeting adjourned to refreshments and much animated discussion.
