Save our Valley. Stop Jess Jackson's Project. In February 2005, Jess Jackson and his wife Barbara Banke, filed a Proposal and Application with the Sonoma County Planning and Resource Management Department. The proposal includes a falsified history of the old town of Kellogg to support the Jackson plan to build a commercial winery and event center on the site of the Old Stone Barn (pictured above). Jackson plans to tear down the 100 year old Stone Barn on Highway 128 in Knights Valley and use the old stones as a facade for a new building. In addition to the new building, the plan calls for construction of additional structures to house a winery (full scope of facility not yet revealed), tasting room (open to the public with other items for sale) and event center (for up to 200 people). The creeks and wildlife will suffer as Jackson's growth plans divert water from the natural streams. Our scenic highway will lose the stunning Old Stone Barn, a landmark of unrepeatable craftsmanship. Our two lane highway will be rife with traffic as tour busses and individuals make the Jackson winery a destination on their path to and from the Alexander Valley wineries and casino. Noise and lights will replace the serenity of the night sky as large groups fill the event center. Our Valley is one of the last remaining rural areas in Sonoma and Napa counties. Our limited natural resources cannot support a commercial project of this scope and scale. Please help us Save our Valley and Stop Jess Jackson's Project. |
